What is a Private Cloud?

The private cloud is thought of as computing services offered either over the Internet or a private internal network and only to select users instead of the general public. Also called an internal or corporate cloud, private cloud computing gives businesses many of the benefits of a public cloud – including self – service, scalability, and flexibility with the additional control and customization tools. This is made possible by a computing infrastructure hosted on – premises.

Two models for cloud services can be delivered in a private cloud. The first is infrastructure as a service (IaaS) that allows a company to use infrastructure resources such as compute, network, and storage as a service. The second is platform as a service (PaaS) that lets a company deliver everything from simple cloud – based applications to sophisticated – enabled enterprise applications. Private clouds can also be combined with public clouds to create a hybrid cloud, allowing the business to take advantage of cloud bursting to free up more space and scale computing services to the public cloud when computing demand increases.

Benefits of Private Clouds

They deliver a higher level of security and privacy through both company firewalls and internal hosting to ensure operations and sensitive data are not accessible to third – party providers.

What is a Public Cloud?

A public cloud is a web – based service model in which a hosting provider offers shared resources such as apps, servers and storage, to the general public. It’s a multi – tenant environment, with different customers using the same pool of IT infrastructure. You pay for these shared resources on a pay – as – you – go basis, which can be cost effective for many organizations. In fact, about 90% of companies today use a public cloud.

Some of the popular public clouds include Amazon Web Services (AWS)®, Google Cloud Platform®, and Microsoft Azure®.

Benefits of Public Clouds

These include easy and fast scalability of compute, storage and other web – based resources. Servers can be deployed in minutes or hours, instead of days or weeks.

Unless you are a small organization, it makes sense to put your workload into the cloud.

What is a Hybrid Cloud?

A hybrid cloud environment incorporates workload portability, orchestration, and management across two or more computing environments — typically, a mixture of a private (on – premise) cloud and a public (off – premise) cloud. In any case, the foundation of a hybrid cloud model is the combination of private and public cloud infrastructures that allow workloads to move between the two interconnected environments. This mobility between cloud environments gives organizations greater flexibility and agility in their data deployment options.

Every hybrid cloud environment is different because the exact architecture will depend on the needs and goals of the organization

Benefits of Hybrid Clouds

Cost is a key factor for many organizations considering migrating to the cloud. A hybrid cloud is a great option for companies that want more security and control of their data but need a cost – effective way to scale their operations to meet spikes in demand (as well as long – term growth).

The hybrid cloud option means organizations can house their core, business – critical, and sensitive data on their private, on – premise servers while offloading less sensitive data and applications to the public cloud.

What is a Multi - Cloud Solution?

A Multi Cloud solution is a strategy where a business leverages two or more cloud computing platforms to per form different tasks. Businesses that do not want to depend on a single cloud provider may choose to use resources from several providers to get the best benefits from each unique service. This can improve reliability
